Da Gennaro Restaurant in Little Italy, New York City
We were on a walk through Little Italy in New York City and had to decide where to eat. DaGennaro caught our attention because it was on the corner and they had both indoor and outdoor seating. All of the glass walls were opened completely, so sitting inside was like sitting in a covered patio. It was a warm evening in Febraury, which is unusual for NYC, so we liked the chance to feel like we were eating outdoors. The restaurant was busy and the tables were tight but they seated us at a nice table right in the middle of the dining room. NO “kid bias” here.
We started off with some warm crusty bread and olive oil with fresh herbs to dip the bread. This was brought to every table. We only ordered entrees because we were walking around the city and didn’t want to feel too full. The food came to the table quickly. The pasta was fresh and delicious. The dishes that had vegetables had a generous portion of broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, peas, etc. Sometimes pasta dishes come watery but this restaurant strained the pasta well so the sauces weren’t watered down. The service was very good. They were constantly refilling our water and checking in on us. One small thing we don’t like is when they come around with the grated cheese and don’t leave it on the table. What if we want more??? That’s kind of cheap. Overall, we liked this restaurant and would recommend it.
Hmmm…. We are thinking of stopping in there sometime, based on your helpful review!
